Here at Blackberry Blossom Farm, we milk our Nigerian Dwarf goats in the spring when they kid. (Only if the dam is capable of producing enough milk for her babies in addition to being milked)

After milking, the goat's milk is strained, cleaned, and frozen in cube shapes to preserve it. Then when we are making a batch of soap, we combine the milk with lye, oatmeal and essential oils or homegrown herbs. Next, this mixture is poured into molds, and we let it cure for several months before using or selling.

Nigerian Dwarfs are versatile goats that are very friendly and have lots of personality. They are one of the smallest goats and can be used for milking, pets, breeding, and more! Their milk is especially good for making butter and cheese, because of the high butterfat content. They make great fair projects because they are easy to handle. They are easy kidders and generally good mothers, and the babies are about as adorable as you can get!
